Using information technologies to fight crime and catch criminals.

At Noblis, bringing experts from many disciplines and diverse experiences together to collaboratively solve a problem is standard operating procedure. But this approach really pays off for our clients in criminal justice.

Having firsthand experience with criminal justice agency information systems on the federal, state and local levels helps us see ways to effectively streamline data access and information sharing. Through our Center for Criminal Justice Technology, we are not only exploring new technologies, but partnering with state and local agencies to develop adaptable approaches for modernizing systems and practices that improve the efficiency, safety and coordination of criminal justice activities.

Some of the many interesting projects underway at Noblis include:
  • Noblis-improved systems that enable local police agencies to instantly search huge federal fingerprint databases.
  • A way for police officers to access criminal and case records remotely from the patrol car or other locations providing them instant access to information about suspects or persons of interest in custody.
  • Our Intelligence Led Policing Tool, now a prototype, uses data management techniques to help law enforcement agencies identify the relatively few repeat offenders who commit the majority of crimes in any given community.
  • New ways to “untether” officers—giving them hands-free wireless access to their patrol cars and other resources using speech to text and video capabilities.
  • New methods for acquiring biometrics data that do not compromise data integrity or individual rights.

Our work in Criminal Justice is a perfect reflection of our core mission. It’s one more way we are using the best of science, technology and strategy to serve the public good.
