Noblis worked with NESDIS Environmental Information Services to support the continual growth and development of the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC) architecture and operations. The NCDDC provides a central focus for coastal ocean data management for the nation through the archive of, and access to, the long-term coastal data record. In cooperation with the National Ocean Service, the NCDDC and Noblis worked closely with coastal data providers to ensure that Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and other applicable standards were employed for all data sets delivered through the NCDDC. The Center uses new distributed object-computing technologies to provide access to distributed data types throughout the nation. The Center also produces retrospective analyses and GIS information to help form the basis for environmental predictions and public policy. Noblis helped the NCDDC develop their FY03 Annual Operating Plan and provided a link between the data center and other NOAA agencies in the Silver Spring Metro Center complex.
