Noblis provides technical leadership to support the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment’s (AFCEE's) Environmental Restoration Program Optimization (ERP-O) program. ERP-O is a strategic effort geared towards improving Air Force environmental cleanup strategies, systems, and programs at bases across the country. The 12 ERP-Os conducted in the past year have ensured that cleanups are health protective, more readily accepted by state regulators, and are projected to culminate in an estimated $55 million in cost avoidance with a Return on Investment ratio of 11-to-1.
The program has steadily grown to become a nationally accepted practice and continues to grow in the areas of energy and greenhouse gas assessment, strategic communications, and performance tracking. The AFCEE Restoration Program Management Office and Technical Transfer Division have established ERP-O as a strategic cornerstone in their business practices to ensure the Air Force’s cleanup program requirements are valid and that established goals are achieved. Noblis also supports the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council—the national organization of state environmental agencies tasked with implementing innovative environmental technologies—as it incorporates lessons learned from ERP-O reviews into nationwide regulatory guidance for pursuing systems optimization.
