Scanning the horizon for new scientific information and approaches to managing chemicals released into the environment assists the Defense Department in reducing their impacts on a broad range of environmental, safety, research and training activities. Noblis integrates a spectrum of expertise in supporting the Chemical and Material Risk Management Directorate within the Office of the Secretary of Defense which houses an “emerging contaminants” program in addition to DoD green purchasing, sustainable acquisition, and international chemical policy response capabilities.
Noblis’ support encompasses all stages of DoD efforts to identify, assess, and manage “emerging contaminants” and their impact on DoD training, operations, testing, and maintenance activities in addition to environmental requirements. The program Noblis supports was a finalist in Harvard University’s “Innovation in Government” award in 2009 for taking proactive steps to manage the impact of emerging contaminants on DoD activities.
