Envision telecommunications networks that are able to continue serving Americans and our critical government and financial institutions even in the event of an extreme catastrophe.
Ever since the events of September 11, 2001, there has been a great deal of interest and concern over the resilience and survivability of our telecommunications networks. Federal law now calls for the use of diverse, multiple facilities to host network resources, increasing the likelihood that critical systems will stay up and running no matter what unforeseen event may occur.
Building on extensive experience and expertise in this field, including work on the Networx acquisition involving billions of dollars of telecommunications capabilities for multitudes of federal departments and agencies, the company is embarking on research in network resilience. Energy is being focused on how to involve government agencies, homeland security authorities and the nation’s telecommunications companies in a collaborative effort to make networks more diverse and resilient.
As this work progresses, it can result not only in a valuable service to all federal entities, but will also fill a critical gap in the security of our nation’s communications infrastructure.
