Falls Church, VA – Mitretek Systems, a nonprofit science, technology and strategy organization founded in 1996, today announced it has changed its name to Noblis.
Noblis solves complex systems, process and infrastructure problems in ways that benefit the public. From improving transportation, telecommunications and energy systems to making our homeland more secure and health care more effective, Noblis helps clients solve essential and enduring problems in the following business sectors: criminal justice; environment and energy; healthcare; national and homeland security; oceans, atmosphere and space; public safety; toxicology and risk assessment; and transportation.
“We changed our name to Noblis because it conveys the critical nature of the work we do to help our customers address the nation’s most challenging problems,” said Noblis President and CEO Lydia Waters Thomas, Ph.D. “Our new name reflects our unique mission and values–to improve lives and serve the good of our nation.”
“Our heritage and culture sets us apart, even in the nonprofit arena. We have no commercial interests to advance, vendor alliances to protect, or members or sponsors to represent. That means our teams are free to focus their energy and brainpower on what matters most: finding impartial answers that work for our clients and for the public good,” Dr. Thomas continued.
Since its inception, Noblis’ accomplished teams have worked on projects such as:
- An Acquisition Excellence Model used with our federal government clients to sort through technology options and save taxpayers billions of dollars on large programs
- A lifesaving use of technology to dramatically speed up hospital response time when an unsafe medical device has been recalled
- An inventive way for law enforcement agencies to instantly search huge federal fingerprint databases and make faster arrests
- A safe, effective program for destroying decades old and obsolete chemical weapons
“After more than a decade of growth, it’s important to note that we are not changing the work we do, or the way we operate,” said Thomas. “This name change helps differentiate our organization from others in our field and position us for future growth.”
