Listen to the Noblis Insights Panel Discussion on Federal Green Initiatives 

Noblis hosted an Insights Panel, "Leading the Way: Federal Green Initiatives," to discuss President Obama’s Executive Order (EO) 13514–"Federal Leadership in Environment, Energy, and Economic Performance" and to learn how various federal agencies are responding to the challenges and opportunities presented by the EO.

The EO requires all federal agencies to inventory their greenhouse gas emissions, set emissions reduction targets, and develop strategies and action plans for meeting a wide range of sustainability goals for improving sustainability, such as water efficiency, reducing waste, sustainable community development planning, high performance buildings, sustainable acquisition, electronics stewardship, and environmental management.

The discussion took place at WTOP/Federal News Radio. The entire broadcast was recorded and is available for download. Panel members included key administration officials who presented viewpoints and insights from several government agencies. Discussion topics included the green strategies the agencies are pursuing, the challenges they are facing and expect to encounter, and steps they are taking to ensure the success of their sustainability initiatives.
