Noblis – Recognized for Outstanding Telework Program

On Tuesday 23 June, at the National Press Club, Commuter Connections presented Noblis with their annual Telework Award.  Commuter Connections—a commuting and telework advocacy organization, consisting of the US Department of Transportation and Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia Departments of Transportation—presents the Telework Award to recognize companies with outstanding commuting and telework programs.

In accepting this prestigious award, Noblis’ Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Gil Miller noted to other regional companies in attendance the importance of “trust” in the employee-supervisor relationship. “Traffic reduction, green, and quality of life benefits cannot be realized without a strong and trusting relationship between our telecommuters and our first-line managers,” said Gil.

The Commuter Connections Annual Employer Recognition Awards Ceremony recognizes employers who have voluntarily initiated programs that facilitate the use of alternative commuting methods such as transit, teleworking, carpooling/vanpooling and bicycling. These methods help to mitigate traffic congestion and provide for cleaner air through reduced auto emissions.  Also receiving Commuter Connections awards for telecommuting incentive ad marketing programs were the Consumer Electronic Association and Tysons Corner Center, respectively.

Gil was accompanied by co-developer of the Noblis Telecommuting Program Mosetta Whitaker, Director of Corporate & Employee Outreach, and current advocate and manager of the Telecommuting Program Kim Jackson, Senior Human Resources Staff.

Commuter Connections is a program of the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and is funded by the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia Departments of Transportation as well as the U.S. Department of Transportation. Commuter Connections promotes alternatives to drive-alone commuting, and provides ridematching for carpools and vanpools and offers the free Guaranteed Ride Home program.
