- Partnering with government agencies and auto makers on Vehicle Infrastructure Integration, using high-tech sensors installed in cars and on the roadway surface to “talk to each other”, sharing information about road conditions and hazards, upcoming accidents and traffic light timing.
- Developing Maintenance Decision Support System software that provides road maintenance personnel with route-specific weather forecasts and road treatment recommendations.
- Analyzing urban traffic congestion patterns in 20 U.S. cities for the Federal Highway Administration who disseminates the information to alleviate congestion.
- Creating the Intelligent Transportation Systems and Bus Rapid Transit Assessment Tool—a prototype software model to help planners choose appropriate intelligent transportation systems technologies.
