Innovations to better protect the environment and preserve vital resources

At Noblis, we draw on the experience and ingenuity of our environmental and energy professionals to make a difference and improve lives. And we have the knowledge of science, technology, and regulatory processes to create cost-effective, practical, and sound solutions to complex and potentially harmful environmental challenges.

Creating new ways to sustain and clean land, water, and air

Noblis’ interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and regulatory experts address some of the most vexing challenges faced by environmental professionals today:  how to not only clean up lands, water bodies, and indoor air but ensure they are useable well into the future. Noblis’ 17-year track record in the environmental remediation arena has provided an impartial basis for optimizing clients’ site cleanups so they are fully protective, time- and cost-efficient, and accepted by regulators. And our subject matter experts in water resources, toxicology, and environmental engineering focus on innovating and implementing responsive approaches to environmental management challenges.

Noblis professionals are at work in a wide range of environmental efforts, including:

  • Engineering and implementing new water resource management tools.
  • Identifying and managing the risks posed by “emerging contaminants” whose long-term impacts could prolong health threats, administrative burdens, and environmental legacy costs.
  • Developing innovative methods to improve and integrate cleanup planning and implementation activities at waste sites so lands can be re-opened for public use.

Building sustainable and secure energy futures

Our cutting-edge energy research addresses the pressing challenge of creating alternative and sustainable ways of meeting future demand with a broad variety of fuel supplies. Working with the U.S. Department of Energy, we have developed sophisticated models to help the nation determine the best and most cost-effective processes for generating electric power and liquid transportation fuels from coal, hydrogen, and emerging sources such as biofuels. Our research indicates that America’s vast coal reserves could be used to produce hydrogen and transportation fuels — and substitute natural gas — in quantities that would significantly reduce our dependence on imports from unstable regions. Our research also shows that if conducted carefully, the environmental impacts of transforming coal and other energy resources can be managed in an environmentally sustainable manner.

As concern about climate change grows alongside concerns about the nation’s access to oil resources, our important work in this critical field continues to grow.

Toxicology/Risk Assessment

At Noblis, we use the best of science, technology and strategy for the best of reasons—to serve the public good. Our work in toxicology and risk assessment is directly linked to our nation’s ability to keep people safe and healthy. As such, we advocate early, proactive evaluation of potential risk issues associated with substances that find their way into our environment, medicines and food. [read more]

Environmental Restoration Program Optimization
Noblis provides technical leadership to support the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment’s (AFCEE's) Environmental Restoration Program Optimization (ERP-O) program. ERP-O is a strategic effort geared towards improving Air Force environmental cleanup strategies, systems, and programs at bases across the country. [read more]
