IM&S Strategy

With today’s ever-changing healthcare environment and increasing demands to improve quality and effectiveness of patient care, access to care, operational performance, and information available to the patient, healthcare organizations must effectively align Information Technology (IT) resources with their business plans.

Too often, spending on IT occurs in the wrong places or at the wrong time; as a result, an organization may become disenchanted with its IM functions.

Creating an IT Strategic Plan will help you make informed decisions about how to spend your scarce resources on the right technologies at the right time. Your business strategy supports your IM&S strategy, while IM&S support your business strategy.  To develop your IT Strategic Plan, Noblis will assist you to perform facilitated sessions, appropriate data collection, and rapid decision-making processes, encouraging participation by all appropriate stakeholders across your organization.

The IT Strategic Plan will include the following elements:

  • Enterprise Strategic Business Drivers, focused on the organization’s mission, goals, strategies, plans, and if applicable drivers of change—Business Strategy drives the IM&S Strategy

  • IM&S Imperatives and Critical Success Factors, which will enable the business strategy—IM&S support the Business Strategy

  • Target Enterprise Architecture, including those business, application, and technology solutions, needed to support the enterprise strategy

  • IM&S Management and Governance establishes the structures and processes necessary for decision-making and oversight

  • Service Delivery Model addresses how IS services will be delivered, which may include a sourcing strategy—is outsourcing appropriate/necessary?

  • IM&S Environment Assessment, identification of critical gaps that must be addressed

  • IM&S Initiatives, people, process, and technology initiatives designed to support the future environment

  • Tactical Roadmap identifies specific actions and their timing necessary to transform the current environment to support the future strategies and plans
