Master Facility Planning

Organizations providing health care today are faced with replacing aging facilities and modifying designs to accommodate new models of care and new technologies, as well as to provide an environment that promotes patient and visitor comfort, convenience, and healing. Chronic healthcare staffing shortages - combined with the competition for top talent - make it equally imperative to consider staff and physician efficiency and convenience, with an emphasis on patient care process innovation.

Noblis is committed to assisting you with master facility planning that is fiscally and operationally responsible.  We work with you, your staff, stakeholders, medical staff, and your clinical experts in planning for your current and future facility needs through a disciplined and collaborative management process.

The Master Facility Planning Process

In a perfect world, a Master Facility Plan would evolve from the clinical service priorities of the strategic plan, the business plans of each of these service lines, and their aggregate space demands and location requirements, as well as from capital and other resource considerations. A Master Facility Plan would then allow the organization to undertake facility projects over time in accordance with the institution’s agreed-upon strategies.

However, many of our clients report frustration with their internal master facility or sequential facility planning because they have reached the point at which they are unable to make adjustments without adversely impacting their overall strategy, or there is competition for limited space.  This is where Noblis comes in.  We will develop a scope of planning services - from single scenario to systemwide - for your unique circumstances that supports cost-effective and operationally-appropriate facility decisions.

Our Master Facility Planning Services Include:

  • Systemwide Master Facility Planning. We provide a long-term framework for facility development and resource allocation - all within the context of an organization’s strategic plan and its service line business plans across all services and campuses.
  • Regional Ambulatory Services Network Development Planning. We link enterprise-wide or service line specific master facility plans with a regional facility strategy for ambulatory care growth and physician placement.
  • Service Line Specific Master Facility Planning. We focus on a long-term framework for facility development and resource allocation within the context of a discrete service line business plan.
  • Scenario Capital Planning. We determine the viability of alternative facility scenarios when tested against strategic goals or changing environmental drivers, such as changes in market share and reimbursement assumptions.
