Noblis has extensive experience conducting research, translating research results into practical applications, analyzing problems, and evaluating outcomes. We conduct applied and translational health-related research-often in conjunction with external research partners-through our Center for Health Innovation (CHI). We also provide independent validation and verification of the research objectives and goals.
We embed our analytical capabilities into our work with clients to accurately analyze their challenges, derive insights to help them recognize and benefit from opportunities, assist them in measuring and evaluating the progress and benefits of their projects, and support custom research.
Applied Research
Our grounding in research design enables us to structure and support a wide variety of research and analytic needs for our clients. Recognizing that systems are complex and dynamic, we employ effective measurement methods and simulation techniques. We apply analytical methods-ranging from experimental to exploratory-to help clients assess and solve business problems, analyze the dynamics and issues of various operational situations, understand real-world healthcare delivery phenomena, test and validate concepts, evaluate projects, and develop their own research proposals.
Examples: Noblis' healthcare professionals have:
- Partnered with a major academic medical center to research and develop a simulation model and tool for forecasting emergency department capacity and throughput. This tool models both normal and disaster scenarios to identify process-flow improvement opportunities and possible solutions through "what-if" analyses.
- Partnered with the U.S. Military Health System to develop data management and forecast models to ensure the care facilities throughout the world will have the right services, in the right places at the right time now and in the future.
Translational Research
Basic research is constantly expanding the limits of what is known. Noblis can help you extend the benefits of your research by showing you how to turn traditional research into unique knowledge. Our healthcare professionals collaborate with our clients, research institutions, and other companies to translate knowledge into actions that will expand your unique capabilities and lead to new opportunities.
Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V)
In order to solve a business problem, you must first define the problem and identify the most effective solution. Implementing the solution, however, does not complete the process. You must also verify and validate the perceived benefit you derive from solving that business problem. If the benefit hasn't been validated, the problem hasn't been solved. Several elements must be in place to accomplish this final step of the process:
- A set of outcome indicators that validate progress as the design is completed, built, tested, and implemented.
- Clear, measurable, and base-lined benefit-realization metrics.
- Management processes to support both of these components and manage risk.
Noblis professionals have extensive experience in quality tracking and measurement, benefits definition and realization, project management processes, and data analytics. Employing this expertise will enable you to verify that you have accomplished your objective(s) as well as whether or not you have met or exceeded your goal expectation.
